Abby 3 year Well Check

Last Thursday we went to the Dr. to have Abby's 3 year Well Check done (yes, I know I'm 3 months behind. Her doctor was on maternity leave until a few weeks ago.) After some coxing to get her on the scale she got her eyes checked. She did really well with the shapes and only got one of the tinny shapes wrong (a star from far away CAN look like a circle!) She did really well when Dr. Strasser came in. She sat on my lap and let her do the check up. Since going we have DAILY had to play Dr. she even makes me get on the pretend scale all the while telling me "it wont hurt you!" As anyone who sees our little 3 year old knows she is a beautiful little girl who is the size of a 4 year old, so it was no surprise when her %tiles were in the 90+ area. Height: 98 %tile, Weight: 90 %tile.

The other day Carson woke from his nap before Abby. He loves to wake her up by giving her big LOVES!! She seems to enjoy waking up that way too. Moments like these melt my heart! What GREAT kids I am blessed with!

Carson, One Year Old

On Sunday my baby turned one! Yes, ONE!! Already! How did this happen? It seems like this year has flown by. On Thursday we went to the Dr. for his one year Well Check and found that he is in the 88 %tile for height, 87 %tile for weight and 62 %tile for head circ. After church on Sunday we had a little party for him with family. Carson wasn't too interested in the cake he played more than ate. And with the help of Aunt Shauna he got a little messier than he would have liked. He did like the presents and just wanted to play and be left alone. Here are some pictures from the party:

Carson, you are such a fun little boy. You love to be chased and tickled. You are a VERY big tease. You are curious to the point of mischievous and if we tell you "no" to something you whale up into heart breaking tears. You are so soft hearted and love to cuddle. Just recently you have started walking and you are catching on so quickly!! You can walk, bend over, get a toy, straighten back up and continue walking. You are so strong. You can say "mama" "dada" "baba" and you occasionally sign "milk." You just learned today how to wave "bye-bye." You still only have 2 teeth so eat mostly baby food, but you LOVE to feed yourself and get so excited when you get the chance. You have recently started throwing the funniest tantrums. When daddy or I make you mad you scream, kick your legs, and if we come close you move away from us while screaming louder (if that is even possible.) We love you so much and can't imagine life without you. You bring so much fun and happiness to our little family!

Air Show

After church on Sunday we decided to head over to Hill for the air show. We got there just in time for the Thunderbirds and a nice soaking from a down poor of rain/hail. It was a lot of fun even with the drenching!

Abby after the storm (she loves playing with umbrellas)

Abby and Carson on the walk in.

The storm as it moved out.

Abby behind the gun. SCARY!

Abby behind the "wheel" EVEN MORE SCARY!!!

Here are some of the Thunderbirds in action:

Grandma Hansen

Last Monday Brian's sweet Grandma Hansen passed away. We were shocked, stunned and very heart broken to hear of her passing, but we know we will see her again someday. We take great comfort in the knowledge that she is with Grandpa Jay again after 13 years apart. We will always remember her, love her and miss her!

Island Park/Yellowstone

So this past weekend we went with my side of the family to Island Park and Yellowstone. My mom, dad, sister, and 3 nieces had never been to Yellowstone (I know...sad huh?) Well, we went and had a great time! We stayed in the same cabin that we did with Brian's side of the family back in October; it's such a cozy comfortable place. We left on Friday morning getting to Island Park about 3. On Saturday we got up and headed for Yellowstone. We visited Norris, Mammoth, Gibbon Falls, and a few others on the Northwest side of the park. We arrived home, ate, and went to bed. On Sunday we drove across the park over to Canyons and drove clear down the Southeast side of the park. Again we got home I made dinner this night (sorry again guys!!) it was TERRIBLE! My rice didn't cook but everyone ate it telling me it was good... :) On Monday we packed up and left the cabin (and Brian's iPod touch too, I sure hope the cleaning crew finds it!!) and headed into West Yellowstone. We stopped and shopped for about 45 mins then went into the park. We stopped at Firehole Falls then headed straight for Old Faithful. We arrived at the perfect time; about 20 mins to eruption. We left after the eruption and headed south out of the park into the Tetons. We stopped at Flagg Ranch Village and ate I do NOT recommend it!! We had to wait forever that was after our server basically jumped down my throat for ordering off the children's menu. Seriously it was so uncomfortable!! Anyway we then headed down to Jackson where we stopped for a quick ice cream cone before starting the long drive home.

Overall it was a great trip and we had such a fun time!! Thanks again Mom and Dad! We love you guys!

Mother's Day, Painted Fingernails, and a New BED!!

I had such a wonderful Mother's Day this year. On Saturday we went to Logan to celebrate with the Pack family. Yummy food, good conversations, and everyone else keeping my kids entertained...IT. WAS. GREAT! Then on Sunday we went to church, I was called to be Primary President (AHHH!!), we went to Heber after church and had a yummy dinner/lunch with my parents and grandparents. Here is a picture Brian snapped of Carson playing on the backdoor steps up in Logan.

So Abby has been bugging me lately about wanting to paint my fingernails "for real, mommy!" She has a fake kit, but now wants to do it with REAL paint. The other day I got brave and took her outside during Carson's nap and let her paint. She did 5, yes 5, coats. It amazes me that with the pretend paint she is so precise and makes sure it stays on my fingernails, however with the real paint...it went everywhere. Here is a picture:

And Finally, Abby got a new bed. She was getting too big for her toddler bed so I got her a loft bed at Ikea last week. Then made some curtains to hang under it. Here are a few pictures:

"Sun Bathing" and Kite Flying

So the other day we were all just hanging out in the kitchen when Abby says: "mommy look I'm in the bath tub." This is what I saw when I looked:

She is such a hoot sometimes! I have no idea where she gets all of her CRAZY ideas!!

Last week just as I was getting ready to make dinner we had a knock at our door. A little neighborhood girl (Kelsey) who is 10, came to ask if Abby wanted to fly kites with her little brother and her. Kelsey is such a sweetheart! It's so nice to have her just across the street. Anytime we head outside she comes over to play with my kids! Anyway, Abby had a blast and so did Carson! Low and behold dinner was a little late that day, but it was so much fun to see Abby and Ryan (Kelsey's little brother) running up and down the sidewalk with their kites!
